SAAM ACCREDITATION

" SAAM has been awarded Accreditation Status for a further five years by the History Trust of South Australia. This has been achieved by the hard work of SAAM members in continuing to improve all aspects of the museums operations to meet the stringent criteria set by the History Trust for continued accreditation."

WOOMERA COLLECTION

Woomera rocket collection is now relocated to a new area of the hangar and the large rockets are now displayed upright.

WESSEX THEATRETTE

The Wessex theatrette dedicated to the two RAAF airman recently recovered from Vietnam is now operational. Visitors can sit in the Wessex helicopter and view a short film of RAAF Canberra bomber operations in Vietnam.

FOKKER FRIENDSHIP

The Fokker Friendship has now had a propeller fitted to the starboard engine. After several weeks of carefull restoration by Jim Piscioneri.

WOOMERA COLLECTION

The Woomera Rocket Collection is being relocated. SAAM volunteers are standing the rockets upright along the southern wall.

WESSEX THEATRETTE

"The Wessex helicopter on display is being fitted out as a small theatrette for our new Vietnam display. The centerpiece of the display will be the Canberra bomber cockpit which is currently being restored in our workshop. This will represent Canberra A84-231, one of only two Canberra's (228 and 231) lost in Vietnam. The display has been made possible by a grant from the Australian Government Veteran Affairs Department."

VAMPIRE

" Under wing fuel tanks have been repainted and fitted to the aircraft"

SPITFIRE

" Langdon Badger has recently had his Spitfire repainted including the nose art. The aircraft has been repositioned and from the mezzanine floor visitors can see directly into the cockpit."

"Currently the Jindivik is in the workshop undergoing repairs and a repaint."

FOKKER F27

" The first propeller for the Fokker Friendship has now arrived and is in the propeller workshop being restored by Jim Piscioneri. A second propeller is on its way from New Zealand."

Walter Minor 6-111

"The Walter Minor 6-111 engine is being restored to running condition by Lawrence Beck. This will be a great achievement considering the damage it suffered in a crash."
